We believe that there are many inner parts (including some that seem negative but are in fact there to protect us) that contain valuable qualities and our core, authentic self has the ability to move toward wholeness and healing. We allow for the surfacing of maladaptive core beliefs and help uncover the true authentic self that may have gotten lost in splintering narratives. We believe it is the best gift to the world to bring forth the authentic true self of each human being- and watch the beauty that unfolds when each person operates from their highest potential.
Psychotherapy
"Emotional pain is not something that should be hidden away and never spoken about. There is truth in your pain, there is growth in your pain, but only if it's first brought out into the open." - Steven Aitchison, psychologist
Psychotherapy, or talk therapy, is a treatment that aims to help identify and change troubling emotions, thoughts, and behavior. Grounded in dialogue, therapy allows you to talk openly with a professional who is able to provide support, perspective, and guidance on the path toward your therapeutic goals. Therapy provides a unique and privileged relationship — the opportunity to be yourself with less filters than with friends and family. A good therapist will not solve your problems, but will support your process of discovering your truth and authentic expression.
Your therapist will help you:
Identify your treatment goals
Explore thought and behavior patterns that keep you from feeling your best.
Learn coping skills.
Gain insight into your mind and relationships.
Create lasting changes that strengthen your ability to address life challenges in the future.
Common reasons to pursue therapy include: stress from work or family situations, the loss of a loved one, relationship issues, trauma, illness, substance abuse, lack of purpose/meaning, feeling ‘stuck’, patterns of self- destructive behavior, personality disorders, symptoms of depression or anxiety, or simply the desire for increased insight and personal development.
While there are many different styles of effective psychotherapy, evidence shows that the alliance between therapist and client/patient is most crucial to good outcomes. For this reason, it is important not to rush your process of finding a therapist. At Onea, we are happy to help you find the therapy that best addresses your needs at this time.
